According to informed sources cited by Reuters, Turkey was made aware six months ago of a plan orchestrated by terrorist groups to overthrow the Syrian government led by Bashar al-Assad. The sources, which include a diplomat from a regional country and an individual linked to the terrorist organizations, indicated that Ankara had given tacit approval to these intentions.
The report identifies the mastermind behind this “bold plan” as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, with its leader Mohammad al-Julani, now known as Ahmad al-Shara. Due to al-Julani’s affiliations with Al-Qaeda, the United States, Europe, and Turkey have designated his group as a terrorist organization.
This revelation raises questions about the extent of Turkey’s involvement and knowledge in the ongoing conflict in Syria, where power dynamics continue to shift dramatically.
