A 24-year-old Palestinian man, Mujahid Abbadi, has recounted his horrific ordeal after being shot, beaten, and strapped to the hood of an Israeli military vehicle as it drove through the city of Jenin.
In an interview with Anadolu, Abbadi described being shot in the shoulder and leg, left unable to move, and then brutally beaten and dragged by Israeli soldiers before being strapped to the hood of the vehicle. He said the scorching hot hood caused burns to his back and legs, leaving him feeling like “knives cutting through me”.
The incident has been widely condemned by the international community, with the US State Department calling it “shocking” and urging Israel to investigate and hold those responsible accountable.
Abbadi is still undergoing treatment for his injuries and faces a long recovery process. He has spoken of living a nightmare since the incident, waking up in panic not knowing why he was attacked.
The incident further reflects the brutal treatment of Palestinians by Israeli forces during their ongoing military offensive in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which has resulted in over 37,600 deaths and nearly 5,300 injuries since October.
