Gaza: Malnutrition Crisis Worsens as Another Child Dies of Hunger

Another child has died of malnutrition at Kamal Adwan Hospital in North Gaza, the fourth such case in a week, amid ongoing Israeli restrictions on aid. The hospital’s director, Hossam Abu Safiya, announced the death during a news conference.

Abu Safiya warned that the Gaza Strip is facing a genuine health crisis, with over 250 children diagnosed with malnutrition symptoms in the past two weeks. He attributed recent premature births at the hospital to maternal malnutrition.

The hospital is struggling to provide basic services, with only enough fuel to last a day. Abu Safiya urged international organizations to bolster relief efforts, including facilitating the entry of food, clean water, fuel, and essential equipment for waste removal.

The Israeli offensive on Gaza has resulted in over 37,500 Palestinian deaths, most of them women and children, and over 85,900 injuries. The crisis is exacerbated by a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine.

The International Court of Justice has accused Israel of genocide and ordered an immediate halt to its operation in Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was invaded on May 6.
