Reasons for US Non-Intervention in Israeli-Iranian Conflict

Çox oxunanlar

After the drone attack by the Islamic Republic of Iran on military targets in the occupied territories, Joe Biden announced that America would not intervene in any potential actions by the Israeli regime against Tehran. Biden’s announcement carries both overt and covert motivations.

Firstly, since 2011, the US government has pursued a policy of decentralization in West Asia, shifting responsibility to regional and international allies. As a result, it is not economically viable for the US to engage in a new military campaign in this region.

Secondly, the Biden administration and the Democrats are facing the upcoming presidential election this year. It is worth noting that Trump still holds a significant chance of winning the election.

Based on the most recent national polls in America, Trump currently has 293 Electoral College votes while Biden has 245 Electoral College votes. With 270 Electoral College votes needed to secure victory, Trump would emerge as the winner if the presidential election were held in America at this moment.

Therefore, it is not in the Democrats’ best interest to entangle America in another crisis in West Asia and provide a convenient pretext for a determined and opportunistic figure like Trump. Trump has repeatedly claimed to be the first American president in recent decades to keep the country out of any wars.

Thirdly, in recent days, Tehran conveyed a message to the American government and the Arab nations in the region, indicating that it would deliver a proportional and fitting retaliation to any attack threatening the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

These various factors have led the Biden administration to the logical conclusion that aligning with Israel in Tel Aviv’s actions against Tehran is not in America’s best interest.
